So, you get accepted into one of our markets... now what!? If you're not a seasoned small biz and this is your first rodeo... buckle up! Because there's a LOT of prep work involved leading up to the market. We know it can be overwhelming, so we've compiled a checklist to ensure you don't forget anything come market day!

1) FLOAT
Make sure you visit your bank prior to market day. You'll want to have enough change with you to last the duration of the market. Having plenty of $5 and $10 bills, plus an assortment of loonies and toonies will save your life.
2) CARD READER
This is an absolute must! Most shoppers pay using debit/credit, so if you don't have a method for taking those transactions, you could be missing out on so many potential sales. Our go-to is the Square Reader, and a close second is the Shopify Card Reader. Both of these devices are available at Best Buy, Staples, Amazon or online via their websites. *Don't forget to charge your reader prior to market day to ensure the battery lasts all day*
3) PORTABLE CHARGER
Electricity is not always available at your booth, so a good rule of thumb is to bring along a portable charger. This will ensure all your devices have backup power should you find yourself with that dreaded low battery icon.
4) INVENTORY
This is a no brainer. Make sure your products are FULLY stocked. Our markets can be insane, and the worst (but also best) thing that can happen is you completely sell out. This is something that happens frequently at our markets, so please please PLEASE for the love of shopping local bring enough stock to stay open for the whole duration of the market.
5) DISPLAY
It's a good idea to begin gathering everything you require for your booth display a few days prior to the market. This gives you a couple of buffer days to remember anything that might be missing from the pile. Table, tablecloth, backdrop, display stands, lighting, props, signs, shelves... you get the idea! If you have the space and time we also recommend practicing your set up the day before the market. This will allow you to get a feel for your booth and make any last minute changes if things are quite looking how you want.
6) SNACKS
Market days can feel long, and hunger usually creeps up on you. Make sure you bring along a water bottle and a few easy to eat snacks. Anything that isn't too smelly and won't make a mess.
